South Africa 4 Rectal Microbicides:
A Stakeholder Consultation on Research and Advocacy
IRMA and AVAC held a stakeholder consultation on June 11, 2015 during the SAAIDS conference in Durban, South Africa. The purpose was to help inform the research and advocacy agenda in support of the development of safe, effective, acceptable, and accessible rectal microbicides for men, women, and transgender individuals with a South African lens. The consultation was held in collaboration with the Desmond Tutu HIV Foundation and the Microbicide Trials Network. Below please find links to the 6 PowerPoints that were presented.

MTN-017 Trial Launch Webinar. Be the Generation Bridge and International Rectal Microbicide Advocates (IRMA) hosted a webinar October 1, 2013 to mark the launch of MTN-017, the first-ever phase II safety study of a rectal microbicide. Ross D. Cranston, M.D., of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and co-leader of MTN-017, presented on the trial details, followed by Jim Pickett of IRMA who presented on the community engagement activities undertaken in support of the trial. "HIV Prevention Europe Webinars: Rectal Microbicides," the seventh webinar in a series addressing a range of topics in HIV prevention research, was hosted September 12, 2013 jointly by NAM and AVAC.
